Local Food

AGree’s Local Food Initiative recognized that national food systems could learn from smaller economies to build a revitalized food system.

AGree’s vision for a 21st-century food system included a strong and revitalized local food economy that could bring together a broad range of stakeholders from related sectors:

  • Agricultural production
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Social justice
  • Anti-hunger interests
  • Local economy advocacy

Local and regional food systems are a growing component of American food and agriculture. By embracing the full range of options for food production, AGree’s Local Food Initiative recognized that national systems could learn from smaller economies, and vice versa.
